REPORTING STAR is trained by conditioner Pat Parente and was ridden to victory by jockey Eurico Da Silva. 21-1 longshot INTERPOL captured the Grade II Sky Classic Stakes on Sunday at Woodbine racetrack. Jockey Emma-Jayne Wilson picked up the mount for trainer Sid Attard and stalked the favourites before calling on the English Channel colt late in the stretch. INTERPOL had to dig in deep in order to hold off a late charge from Sam-Son Farm’s GOLDEN SABRE.
Charles Fipke’s DANISH DYNAFORMER breezed to victory in the 124th Running of the Breeders Stakes at Woodbine Racetrack. It was no contest for the 3 year old Dynaformer colt who was guided by the hands of veteran rider Patrick Husbands. DANISH DYNAFORMER is stabled and trained out of the barn of hall of fame trainer Roger Attfield.
BREAKING LUCKY made a timely move to edge out favourite SHAMAN GHOST in the 80th running of the Prince of Wales Stakes at Fort Erie racetrack on Sunday. Trained by Reade Baker and ridden by James McAleney, BREAKING LUCKY put and end to SHAMAN GHOST’S four race win streak. Yours truly had $5.oo to win and place on the LOOKIN AT LUCKY colt which yielded a nice $81.00 profit.
Under skilled urging from jockey Emma-Jayne Wilson, filly BROOKLYNSWAY won Sunday’s Bison City Stakes by a determined Bob of the Head. A daughter of the great Adena stallion GIANT GIZMO, BROOKLYNSWAY is trained and owned by conditioner John Ross.
Sending out my belated congratulations to the filly ACADEMIC for winning the 2015 Woodbine Oaks. ACADEMIC is trained by Reade Baker, owned by Bear Stables and was ridden by Justin Stein. Although ACADEMIC was unable to repeat her Oaks performance in the 156th running of the Queen’s Plate this past weekend it is hoped that she can return to form in the near future. ACADEMIC is a graduate of the Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society Sale.
Stronach Stables SHARMAN GHOST captured the 156th running of Queen’s Plate on Sunday, July 5th. The son of Ghostzapper is trained by Brian Lynch and was ridden by US based jockey Rafael Hernandez. The trophy was presented to owner Frank Stronach by Governor General of Ontario Elizabeth Dowdeswell.
Jim and Susan Hills GO BLUE OR GO HOME fended off a late charge from KATIE’S EYES to capture the GII Highlander Stakes at Woodbine racetrack. Ridden by jockey Alan Garcia and trained by Reade Baker, GO BLUE OR GO HOME set a new track record of 1:07.18 for 6 Furlongs on the E. P. Taylor Turf Course.
Sam-Son Farm’s ALDOUS SNOW repeated in the grade III Singspiel Stakes at Woodbine racetrack, proving the 1 1/2 distance on the lawn to be very much to his liking. ALDOUS SNOW was ridden to victory by Eurico Da Silva and is trained by Malcolm Pierce.
John Unger’s Ontario bred STRUT THE COURSE nosed out Irish bred favourite WATSDACHANCES in the GII Dance Smartly Stakes @ Woodbine racetrack. Trained by Barbara Minshall, STRUT THE COURSE remains undefeated in the 2015 season.
